Shubina, Maria Timofeyevna (08/05/1930) – Olympic champion in kayaking deuce at a distance of 500 meters (1960, Rome); Soviet athlete in rowing and canoeing; was born in the village Protasova Ichalkovsky district, Mordovia, graduated from the Kazan Medical Institute in 1956 .; Honored Master of Sports (1960). Ph.D. (1975). World Champion (1958, 1963, 1966), Europe (1963, 1965, 1967). The repeated champion of the USSR (1959 – 1967) composed of various crews. She was awarded the Order of Red Banner of Labor.
