Pokryshkin Alexander Ivanovich (21.02 (06.03) .1913), Soviet military commander, Air Marshal (1972), three times Hero of the Soviet Union (24/05/1943, 08/28/1943, 08/19/1944). A member of the CPSU since 1942. Son of a worker. In the Soviet Army in 1932. He graduated from the aviation school in aviation (1933), Kachin aviation Pilot School (1939), the Military Academy. During the Great Patriotic War of 1941-45 Pokryshkin since 1941 – deputy commander, and squadron commander, assistant commander, and commander of the 16-th Guards Fighter Regiment, and commander of the 9 th Guards Fighter Aviation Division. He participated in battles in the South, the North-Caucasian, 1 st, 2 nd, 4 th Ukrainian Front. He flew over 600 sorties, conducted 156 air battles, brought down 59 enemy aircraft. After the war in responsible positions in air defense forces in 1968 – 72 Deputy Chief of Air Defence Forces, from January 1972 Chairman of the Central Committee DOSAAF USSR. Deputy of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR 2-9-th convocations. He was awarded four Orders of Lenin, Order of the October Revolution, 4 orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of Suvorov, 2 nd degree, two Orders of the Red Star and medals, as well as 4 foreign orders. Author of books: "Wings fighter" (1944), "Sky War" (1966).
