Biography of Ivan Bagramian Khristoforovich

Bagramyan Bagramyan (20.11 (02.12) .1897 – 1982), Marshal of the Soviet Union (11/3/1955), Hero of the Soviet Union (29/7/1944).

Member of the CPSU since 1941. Born to a railway worker, an ethnic Armenian. Since 1915 in the Army, graduated from the school of ensigns (1917).

In December 1920, voluntarily joined the Red Army, member of the Civil War. He graduated from the cavalry officers' refresher courses (1925), refresher courses top bosses of the (1931), the Military Academy. Frunze (1934) and the General Staff Academy (1938).

After the war, was commander of the Baltic Military District, from 1954 the Chief Inspector of the Ministry of Defence, Deputy Minister of Defence, 1956-1958 Chief of General Staff Military Academy, from 1958 Deputy Minister of Defence, Chief of the rear of the Armed Forces.

He was awarded five Orders of Lenin, the Order of the October Revolution, three Orders of the Red Banner, two Orders of Suvorov, 1 st degree, Order of Kutuzov 1 st degree, Polish and Mongolian Orders and medals.
