Biography of Andrea Palladio
Andrea Palladio (1508 – 1580) – the famous Italian architect of the last pore of the Renaissance. In his brilliant treatment of the buildings of different architectural forms of ancient Roman architecture and art to observe the harmony in the distribution of parts of the buildings. The main arena of the PA was his hometown, Vicenza. Here is one from his first time works – basil, started construction in 1549, and replaces the old Town Hall. This grand building is built of marble in the Renaissance style, in its lower floor is space for shops, and at the top – a large meeting hall city council. The best of the palaces that were built on should be considered the palazzo-Cheregati (ca. 1566), in which the two floors are decorated with two semi-soft, elegant form. Currently this building is placed city museum. Smaller denominations differ: Palazzo Thiene, in which the artist chasing too grandiosity, palazzo-Barbarano (1570), burdened with superfluous ornaments, and the Palazzo Valmorano (1566); suffers exquisite efficiency. Of the other works of PG in Vicenza remarkable: the Olympic Theatre, built in the style of Roman theaters, according to a modified taste of the Renaissance, and beyond the city so-called. Rotunda – swimming building, furnished by four Ionic porticoes. In Vicenza, P. worked in Venice, where at the end of his life was the architect of the country. From his Venetian buildings deserve to be referred to the church of the Savior (li Redentore, 1576) and S. Giorgio Maggiore, the exteriors of which was finished after the death of architect P. Scamozzi and unfinished CloĆ®tre monastery della Carita. Even more than the practical construction activity, P. glorified his chief literary work, a very tsenivshimsya long treatise on architecture ("Qaatro libri dell'architectura", 4 volumes, 1776-83).
