Biography Fomin Pavel Stepanovich

Fomin, Pavel Stepanovich (19/01/1818 – 12/13/1885) – Lieutenant-General, a member of the Military Council, was descended from the nobility of the Don Cossacks. After receiving training in the 2 nd Cadet Corps, he 2 nd August 1836 was promoted to cornet, and soon after was appointed to the Caucasus, where he was on the right flank of the line under the command of Major-General Zass. Regular expeditions in the mountains have enabled the young FA already in its second year of service to participate in the cases against the Highlanders. At the end of the Crimean campaign AF continued to command Don № 9 Regiment until 1863, when he was appointed chief of staff of the Don Cossacks, and in November the same year was promoted to major general. In 1870 FA was appointed marching Ataman of Don Cossack regiments of the Warsaw Military District, and in this post he remained until 1877, and in 1871 was promoted to lieutenant general. At the time of the Turkish campaign of 1877 – 1878 years. F. was appointed ataman irregular troops of the army, not part of the divisions. With the end of the Turkish War was first credited to the Don Army, but was soon appointed a member of the Military Council. In this position he remained until his death. During his nearly 50-year service FA had a lot of orders to the Order of St. Alexander Nevsky, inclusive.
