Biography Dovatora Lev M

Dovator Lev (07 (20) .02.1903 – 19.12.1941), Hero of the Soviet Union (21/12/1941, posthumously), Major-General (September 1941).

Member of the CPSU since 1928. Born into a peasant family. In 1924, voluntarily joined the Red Army, he graduated from the Cavalry School (1926) and the Military Academy. Frunze (1939).

At the beginning of the Great Patriotic War, commanded a cavalry group, who in August-September 1941 raid on the enemy's rear in the Smolensk region, and then actively participated in the defense of Moscow in the Volokolamsk direction.

Since November, commanded the 3 rd, then 2-m Guards Cavalry Corps.

Killed in battle on the outskirts of Ruza. He was awarded the Order of Lenin Order of the Red Banner and the Order of the Red Star.

He was buried at Novodevichy Cemetery in Moscow.
