Biography Blagonravova Anatoly Abramovich

Blagonravov Anatoly Arkad'evich (20.05 (01.06) .1894), a Soviet scientist in the field of mechanics (Ballistics), academician of the USSR (1943), lieutenant-general of artillery, Hero of Socialist Labor (1964), Honored Scientist of RSFSR (1940).

Member of the CPSU from 1937. In 1916 he graduated from the Petrograd Polytechnical Institute, in the same year the Mikhailovsky Artillery School, in 1924 Higher Artillery School and in 1929 the Military Technical Academy.

In 1929-46 he taught at the Artillery Academy. Dzerzhinsky in Moscow (from 1938 – professor). In 1946 the deputy. Minister of Higher Education USSR.

From 1946 to 1950 president of the Academy of Artillery Sciences. Since 1953 Director of the Institute of Mechanical Engineering. In the 1957-63 academic secretary of the Department of Technical Sciences of the USSR. He was a member of the Main edition 2-nd edition of TSB.

Major works are devoted to questions of mechanics and weaponry. Conducts a major scientific and organizational work as Chairman (since 1963) of the Commission on the Exploration and Peaceful Uses of Outer Space Sciences of the USSR.

Since 1959, the vice-president of the Committee on Space Research of the International Council of Scientific Unions (COSPAR). Member of the International Astronautical Academy. USSR State Prize (1941). Lenin Prize (1960).

Since 1953, retired. He was awarded four Orders of Lenin, four other orders and medals.
